Inaugural Research Symposium
Our first research symposium, Violence Prevention is Public Health, during National Public Health Week in April, brought together community partners, film, and scholarship in a shared effort to advance violence prevention. The event showcased how interdisciplinary collaboration can spark deeper dialogue and inspire continued action.
The event featured two rounds of lightning talks, with a total of 16 presenters and panelists traveling from across the state. Keynote panelists included Dr. David Jacobs, Jared Pone, Esq., Latisha McNeil, and Siarra Scott, all of whom work in the field of violence and injury prevention and contributed their expertise, perspectives, and lived experiences. Denver Humphrey’s film Find Me in the Void set a powerful, lasting tone, shaping the day’s overall impact.
