VPC Students Present Research at UNC Charlotte Undergraduate Research Conference
We are celebrating several students who showcased their research at the UNC Charlotte Undergraduate Research Conference.
The students presented projects focused on violence prevention, bystander intervention, and community health, including:
- Improving social reactions to disclosures of sexual violence among LGBTQ+ survivors through a modified intervention program
- Designing a card game that encourages bystander action to reduce binge drinking and related harms
- Developing and testing survey items that measure bystander intervention for problematic alcohol use
Through their work on NIH-funded research projects, these students continue to demonstrate innovation, leadership, and commitment to prevention science.
Congratulations to Zihui Qiu, Brianna Jones, Justin Ohiaeri, Rama Kayali, Mena Ukulu, Yasmine Paige, Parth Vyas, Kai Norris, and Sarah Ervin for representing their research with excellence.
We also celebrate their mentors — Drs. Jessamyn Moxie, Erika Montanaro, Annelise Mennicke, and Kennicia Fortson — for supporting and guiding this important work.
These students are already shaping the future of prevention research, and we look forward to seeing what they accomplish next.
